Ingredients:
- 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon milk
- Sprinkles, colored sugar, or frosting for decorating
Instructions:
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper or lightly grease them.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
- Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Add Wet Ingredients: Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and milk until well combined.
- Combine Wet and Dry: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Shape the Cookies: Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheets about 2 inches apart. Flatten each ball slightly with the bottom of a glass or your palm.
- Decorate: Add sprinkles or colored sugar before baking, or leave plain to decorate with frosting later.
- Bake: Bake for 8–10 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden. Avoid overbaking to keep them soft.
- Cool and Decorate: Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. If desired, decorate with frosting once cool.
